Ron's Original Bar and Grille
Friday night my family and I went to Ron's Original Bar and Grille which lists a great beer selection online. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait for for a table so we headed to the bar to begin the night's drinking.
Through the night I wound up with:
I also had a taste of St. Martin's Cuvee de Noel and Mad Elf. This was the second time I've had Mad Elf. I avoided it previously after I what was apparently a bad bottle. This from a draft was amazing and I'll have to get it again. I didn't fully trust the bottle I first had after so many people thought so highly of it.
This was I think the second time I've had Young's as well, the first was shortly after I turned of age to consume it. I remember not liking it then but knowing how my tastes have changed I knew I have acquired a taste for it. It was great to start with at the bar and was really the chocolate milk of beer.
Monk's Blood wasn't as good as I had hoped. The taste kind of flattened more then I expected but was also served too cold.
The food was pretty good too! I started with the Belgian mussels and then a mushroom burger for dinner. The mussels were great and the burger was decent.
There were some strange things that night that keep Ron's from being perfect. All of the beer was served colder then it should have been and the waitress kept the draft list although there was a bottle list on the table.
Ron's is a good place to go for a drink and stay for food. It's not an amazing place but definitely worth trying if you are in the area.
